Dear friends, family and kind hearted strangers,

At the end of May, Kiri and Jamie received terrible news – After 2 years of on-going pain and doctors unsure of the problem, Kiri has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. This has now very quickly progressed to stage 4 cancer and spread to her ovaries and stomach. Kiri is now enduring chemotherapy every 2 weeks for the next 6 months and targeted treatment for the rest of her life.

Unfortunately, prognoses as of Friday 1st of August was devasting for this young couple, Kiri is now terminal, and if chemo doesn’t work, she will have less than a year and if chemo does work, she will have only 1 to 3 years.

This has been devasting for both Kiri and Jamie. They had purchased a block of land and built their dream home, but now the finishing touches can’t be achieved. With all the doctors appointments, chemo and surgeries, Kiri is unable to work full time and can only manage a couple of days a week, on the good weeks. She has nearly used up all her sick and annual leave.

At this stage the young couple should be enjoying life, finishing the house, driveway and gardens, but instead I can see the financial struggle on their faces knowing soon they will only have 1 wage coming in and trying to cover the mortgage, bills, and continuous medical bills.

Your contributions will help cover medical costs, daily living expenses and hopefully provide Kiri with moments of joy and a distraction to keep her spirit strong.
