This fundraiser is to provide immediate assistance to a young professional couple that has been displaced due to a fire that has destroyed their home. Jahree Sosa and Craig Hampton has lost their home and everything they owned went up in smoke in a 3 alarm fire Saturday, 16 October 2021, in the Lawrenceville area of Pittsburgh, PA. It was a quiet Saturday evening when my daughter was home working on her thesis that is due in 2 weeks. She was on the third floor of her duplex apartment when she began to smell smoke and went downstairs to investigate. Upon reaching the second level of their home, she noticed her home was quickly filling with smoke and was not sure where it was coming from. She quickly grabbed her 2 - 14 year old Dachshunds and headed for the door where she was met by neighbors also inquiring about the smoke. As she and other neighbors began banging on the door of the adjacent apartment, they then noticed flames inside of that home and everyone moved away to await the arrival of the fire department. The Pittsburgh Fire Department arrived and went to work on the fire for over 2 hours before it was fully extinguished. The fire quickly jumped from the adjacent apartment into Jahree and Craig's apartment causing the entire 3rd level to collapse onto the second. Jahree is a Biochemistry Graduate Student at the University of Pittsburgh and Craig is a Contractor for a private sector agency. Please help them meet some of their immediate needs while the investigation into the cause of the fire continues and the insurance claims are processed. No donation is too small and we thank you in advance.
