Ryan ,Young CDN ,requires heart surgery in USA

We have created a fundraising campaign for our son, Ryan, who lives in London Ontario Canada . Ryan has a serious medical condition (heart failure) pericarditis, that requires him to travel to the "Mayo clinic" in Minnesota in the next 6 weeks for a very expensive and complicated heart procedure called "Pericardiectomy". This surgery involves removing the lining of his heart and is not performed in Canada regularly, and doesn't have the positive results that patients at the Mayo clinic experience routinely. The medical expertise at Mayo for this particular surgery is far superior due to the fact that they do it more frequently. The surgeons there specialize in this surgery with an extremely high success rate.
This all began in July 2021 for Ryan , a few days after taking the second covid shot and got progressively worse from that day forward. The Drs did dozens of tests for several months , and couldnt figure out what was the issue. We finally had him admitted to a private medical clinic in London , were they did a 5 hour complete medical /physical and diagnosed him the next day as having heart failure. Ryan was diagnosed with pericarditis and myocarditis in Nov 2021 and was admitted to the hospital for 16 days immediately. The time spent at the hospital was extremely scary and he was in very bad shape. There were some days were we really didn't know what would happen to him.
Since getting released from the hospital, he has been living with this debilitating medical issue daily and this has changed all of our lives dramatically.
We learned of this surgery opportunity in Dec and since that day we have all been excited and optimistic that finally there is light at the end of the tunnel. There really are no other complimentary options for him at this point except heart transplant once his health deteriorates over time .
Before the heart condition, he was very healthy, active person living a normal life. After finishing school, he began his work career as an electrician and loved the profession until Oct 2021 when he had to stop and hasn't worked since .
He has constant daily health issues too long to list , pains all over , eating a very strict diet and feels like he has heart of an 80 year old in terms of function and doing routine activities. His life expectancy, and quality of life without this surgery is compromised and shortened, which is why we are forging ahead and ask for some support to help him through this journey.
We are asking for help for Ryan to get this done and get him back on track for a normal life just as he was before this nightmare started . We have been advised that OHIP will not help pay for this procedure , which puts enormous financial pressure on our family. This is an expensive procedure and long hall recovery term. The total all in price is close to $320,000 . The actual surgery is about 7 hours at Mayo Rochester Minn USA. After the surgery , he will spend a few weeks of recovery there. We know of another person from london , about the same age as our Ryan, that went through this exact same operation a few months ago and is back home doing great. This is one of the finest most accredited hospitals for this surgery in the world.
We are on track to visit the hospital in about 5 weeks time for a consultation with their Cardiology team where they do a battery of pre operative tests , over a 6 day period . Once the evaluation is completed, we will continue staying there and get ready for the date for surgery which is booked, , May 22 2024.
The cost is substantial, but you can't put a price on a son or family members health at such a young age.
God willing, this will go as planned, successfully , and Ryan's life will get back to normal like before this all happened and we all return home very happy and relieved.
Thank you for any support, for Ryan's journey, this means the world to our family. All donations are greatly appreciated and please pass on the links to family and friends that would like to help out.
We thank you Scott , Theresa(Tracy) Chad Martin family.
