Lennon and Willia Youmans Memorial Scholarship
Tax deductible
Lennon and Willia Youmans believed in the education and empowerment of all people, no matter their race, color, ethnicity, or economic background. Natives of Jasper County, South Carolina, and the founders of Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle, Inc., they had the burgeoning desire to not only impact the world for Jesus Christ but also leave the community and world better off than the way they found it. Having grown up in the impoverished and segregated Jim Crow South, they faced challenges when it came to obtaining an education. Lennon was only able to complete school through the tenth grade but nonetheless was able to start his own painting company that served the Beaufort, Hampton, and Jasper counties for close to 40 years and provided jobs for residents looking for work. Willia was fortunate enough to obtain a college degree in business, and she assisted with the administration of the painting business while also spearheading ministry operations at Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle. They valued the importance of quality education and made tremendous sacrifices to send their son to the nearby Hilton Head Christian Academy. With this education, Lenardo was able to get accepted to a top-five university and go on to graduate with a mechanical engineering degree before getting a master's degree in business administration.
The purpose of this scholarship is to honor the legacy of Lennon and Willia and continue their work through the promotion of education and assisting the economically challenged in providing an excellent education for their children. With this scholarship, we have already begun to impact families in the South Carolina Lowcountry area by enabling children to get a quality education in a safe, nurturing environment. All donations will be used to pay tuition costs for impoverished minorities who would like to attend Hilton Head Christian Academy.
