Fox's darling has seizures and they need help.

My moldy apartment has wrecked my life and my health for years. I was figuring it out on my own, but now I fear it's having a terrifying affect my cat, so I'm asking for help.

It all started when I saved a sickly litter of kittens from my Brooklyn backyard six and a half years ago.

I wasn't planning on keeping them, but Miss Kitka and Ozzie ended up mine.

For years, they've been my snuggle buddies through all the migraines and sickness. They've been my only real companions during this past year of my "high risk" Covid isolation.

Miss Kitka gives me kisses when I'm feeling poorly.

The day after Christmas, darling Miss Kitka had two full blown seizures. It was horrifying.

In the three weeks since, she's had nine more. I initially brought her to an emergency vet, and spent nearly $1000 on her treatment.

That emergency vet was so atrocious an experience that they reversed the charges. But I then I still had to go to a local vet and get both of my cats checked out.

None of the vets can find any reason for the seizures.

I highly suspect that the mold in my apartment is the cause. I only recently began to understand that there is mold present, and that it has caused health issues in myself and my cats. We all get hives from spending time in the bedroom (a room I've had to abandon), and I have a host of health issues that started when I first moved in six years ago. That's almost all of my cats' lives!

A mold test found four kids of toxic mold in my kitchen last year. The landlord refuses to hire a professional to fix it, or get a full mold test for the rest of my apartment. I'm stuck here for the time being due to the pandemic, in a legal battle with my slumlord.

(I'm on Disability, which only provides me $820 a month, and I have nowhere safe to go.)

Miss Kitka is currently on seizure medication every eight hours, but the seizures are still getting worse. The local vet has told me to bring her to a neurologist. I've already spent all my stimulus money and savings (which I am supposed to be putting towards moving out of this moldy apartment). It's all been eaten up from her vet bills, medications, car rides to vets, fancy cat food, a water filter, etc.

The medication that she is currently on costs roughly $50 a month, but it's not enough, and she will likely need a second drug as well. However, the local vet has instructed me to see a neurologist in Manhattan for any additional treatment, and refuses to change or increase her medication, even though her seizures continue. I've no idea how much that will cost, but just the MRI I was told I'd need will be roughly $1,200.

I need the funds to bring Miss Kitka (and possibly Ozzie) to a specialist.

I need to funds to possibly pay someone to foster Miss Kitka (and possibly Ozzie) in a mold free environment, and pray it helps.

I need the funds to hire a mold test for my building that will have legal standing, which will be around $800.

I need the funds to replenish my Get Out Of Here fund.

I just want my sweet cats to be happy and safe.

They are my family.
