I've really struggled whether to share our story. I know that there are so many struggling this year. Like so many, covid has wreaked havoc on our lives. The isolation it created with no school, no job, no sports, no church, no friends was a perfect storm for depression to take over. With social media one of the only ways for connection and people openly selling and marketing to kids (nerds ropes w/ drugs?!) Layla experimented and was hooked almost immediately. Since fall she has been in intensive outpatient 7 hours a day for 5 weeks, residential treatment for mental health and substance use for 5 weeks and is currently on week 5 of a higher level care residential facility. With ER visits before each. I'm learning insurance covers as little as possible. Each time she's not an immediate threat she is sent home with little warning and no supports in place. I'm trying to provide her a chance so she can to learn skills she needs to stay safe and be healthy. At this point, I've maxed out my credit, used my savings and am struggling to pay the co-insurance to even keep her there a few more weeks. She will need continuing therapy, medication management and some home adjustments when she is discharged as well. Any help, any prayers, specifically that insurance gives her more time, that her spirit is willing, and for support for each of us is appreciated.
