My name is Abby, and I am one of many fans & friends of The Cook & The Carpenter Bakeshop in Highland Park, New Jersey. Sam+ (known as The Baker & The Cook) has struggled with Mental Health and Trauma Issues for years. During this summer, Sam+ found themselves in need of more acute help and needed several months of in-patient care.
Getting well is not cheap, and navigating the healthcare system is stressful, even for the most mentally stable of us. But now that Sam+ is making the transition back to home and The Bakeshop, those costly medical bills will be waiting for them in the mailbox as a welcome home gift.
We as a community are asking for your help. Your generosity will help Sam+ pay down some of the medical costs incurred during her Trauma treatment. Any contribution you can make is greatly appreciated.
A long-time customer and bread fan recently suggested that Sam+ create a line of baked goods dedicated to their stay at the Trauma Unit: Dissociative Donuts, CPTSD Loaves, Pacing Pastries, Borderline Biscuits, Clinically Depressed Cookies and Sam+’s personal favorite--- Trauma Informed Tiramisu.
We are doing our best not to make light of these serious issues but rather to bring attention to them and offer a side of humor.
Laughing helps. Money helps too.
Whatever you can give, we say Thank You!
