You Can Fly said the Bird

Hello everyone! (northern accent)

'You can fly said the bird' was a head thought in the middle of my breakdown this year 2024.

I’m Suzie, known as "The Naked Artist," a self-taught expressionist artist with a passion for using art as a means of healing and self-discovery. I’ve self-funded my path, building a vibrant community of friends and supporters along the way. However, my personal journey hasn’t been easy the last few years especially due to trauma that I had to deal with from my past and present life. For those of you who don’t know me I relocated out of London after 19 years to move to the coast, giving up everything I knew to live by the sea, as I knew in time it would be better for my life. Relocating from London this year, to the coast was a bold step toward finding a better life, despite the mental and emotional hurdles it brought. I realised that every life choice I have made has always bought me back to my career as an artist, and things made more sense to me. I spent much of my earlier life asking myself ‘Am I Normal?’ and Who Am I? due to my identity and sexuality crisis arising from a bad experience that happened as a child.

The aftermath has always driven me forward through art and processing elements of time in life to overcome situations. Fast forward to NOW, November 1st, the launch of my first solo art show in 7 years, and exhibiting internationally in Brussels, all these amazing experiences happening because I made them happen through chatting to people!

I am reaching out for funding because I need help to sustain my art practice and take it forward for what I would like to achieve next. I have sat on my ideas for over a decade, waiting for my FEAR to leave me, and FINALLY here I am to ‘Live out Loud’ (to quote one of my art book pages). I would be grateful for the smallest of donations to help make my dreams come true. I’d appreciate any contributions toward printing my mental health art zines, and starting a creative T-shirt line, with buying a heat press and a sublimation printer and inks with accessories. My ultimate goal is to give back and help others through my art and connecting to new opportunities along the way and reaching out further with my art/photography.

The layout costs outlined

One batch of 20 art 12 page zine costs around £150 not including delivery. I wish to print a collection of different projects.

I would like to make a personal artwork for everyone that has donated to me to make my dreams become a reality to prosper forward into the next chapter of my art career, and now I am registered as a sole trader to make my dreams become just that creatively.
