You ain’t got no legs Kimberly!!!

On Tuesday afternoon I was getting ready for a dentist appointment when I hear my dog Harley freaking out outside in a way I instantly knew something was wrong. When going outside I find my mom fallen from the porch laid over the flower bed obviously hurt couldn’t move either leg. An ambulance was called and she was taken to Rockdale hospital which is a disaster of a place. They sat her in the waiting room for 6 hours with a dislocated ankle that was fractured in three places and another fractured ankle. From the moment EMT arrived at the house they insisted it was a sprain and were reluctant to show any compassionate help at all. After 10 hours in rockdale hospital she was released with a temp cast on the left and told to put all weight on her right foot….the following morning her right foot is black and blue and clearly not just a sprain. Come to find out the X-rays we’re approved that the right foot was also broken before leaving yet they still sent her home telling her to bare all weight on the right foot. At this point she is suppose to schedule a surgery for the left and the initial visit alone is 900 dollars. We end up going to Grady hospital and doing the whole ER thing again on Thursday. Where we were for the first time actually treated with kindness. Grady did reductions on both legs and surgery happened on Friday morning. While this is all a lot it’s only the beginning and getting her back on her feet and back to work will be a long journey.

Anyone who knows my mom knows she is always the first to help anyone who needs it. This doesn’t mean she is in a place to help anyone. But she has the kindest most giving heart of anyone I know. But she refuses to ever ask for help when she needs it. So here I am swallowing the pride for her. Mom doesn’t have insurance and will be out of work for some time. She has casts on both legs and honestly I don’t even know what one does with both legs unusable. If mom has ever helped you or you feel it in your heart to help all would be greatly appreciated and help so very much with this terribly unlucky situation mom has fallen into. Pun certainly intended
