On Monday, April 27 I heard a horrible noise come from my baby girl Yoshi. I ran into the room and found her stiff and unresponsive. Upon carrying her to the vet on Monday after the seizure, multiple visits throughout the week, blood tests, an x-ray and an echocardiogram, it was determined that Yoshi has fluid surrounding her heart and lungs. The fluid was removed, and she was later transferred to ICU at Animal Medical Center located on 62nd & York. Over the weekend, Yoshi was watched carefully in ICU, additional fluid was removed from her body, more test were performed, and my baby girl suffered. On Sunday evening, Yoshi was able to come home overnight.

The following Monday, May 4th, Yoshi returned to the hospital for a CT scan. The scan revealed that Yoshi has a liver shunt. If this is not repaired, Yoshi’s liver will stop working and she will die. She is currently taking 2 different medications to support her liver function, but she will need to get the operation sooner than later.

Drew Xeron traveled over 4-hours 6 years ago to bring me this beautiful, loving and joyful little baby. She has been in our lives since she was 8-weeks old. From that moment, she has given us and every life she touches an overflowing amount of LOVE.

I found out today that Yoshi is a miracle baby. Usually dogs are diagnosed with a liver shunt issue within the first year of birth. During that time there are clear signs of a serious medical issue. Yoshi however didn’t show signs until April 27th. Even her own doctors are amazed at her strength and sweet spirit.

Yoshi has pet insurance, but it will not cover the cost of her surgery and additional care. We asked that you please give from your heart, and share in the miracle of giving Yoshi more years to love unconditionally.
