We are the VI Vipers. We are the only visually impaired youth football team in West Yorkshire. Together, we are smashing barriers and proving that our disability is our superpower!

With that in mind, on 5th September 2026, we are taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, together with our parents, our amazing coaches Ryan and Dean, and Hayley from Wakefield District Sight Aid, to raise money to support our team and activities for blind and partially sighted children and young people. Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.

Why we are amazing:

Young people who had no confidence, who could barely kick a ball or take a touch, are now adapting to every position on the field. Some of the players wouldn't speak to a coach or interact with their peers when they first started. Now, some of them are showing true leadership potential, several of them are on the England Talent Pathway, and they've got a bond that would put any professional team to shame. It's not an understatement to say that the VI youth football has created something truly magical that we never anticipated.

Wakefield District Sight Aid (WDSA) is an independent local charity supporting people living with sight loss across the Wakefield district.

The charity provides practical advice, information and support to help people with visual impairments maintain their independence, confidence and wellbeing. Services include social groups, home visiting and provision of assistive equipment, Living Well with Sight Loss confidence building courses, accessible art classes, events for children, young people and their families, and a host of other activities designed to reduce isolation and improve quality of life.

WDSA has supported the continued development of the VI Vipers football team since its inception two years ago.

WDSA works closely with local health services, community organisations and other partners to ensure people affected by sight loss can access the support they need at every stage of their sight loss journey.
