York Lynch, our Hero, needs your help!

Hello everyone,
Those of you who know our dad, York Lynch, understand what a kind, funny, hardworking man he is and how much his family looks up to him; he is truly our hero. His love for our mother, his children, and his grandchildren and his relentless work ethic has always been unmatched. He has given many years of service to our country and even more to his church and people in need. Now, he needs us.
After years and years of working 70+ hour work weeks and raising kids, it was approaching a time where he and my mother could finally enjoy each other. See, my parents are still madly in love after 46 years of marriage and 5 kids. Alas, life had different plans and our sweet father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease a few years ago. PD is a progressive neurodegenerative disease, for which there is no cure and very limited treatment possibilities. Ever the fighter, my mother has done countless hours of research and my dad has been an absolute SOLDIER of a patient, following every doctor’s order, every path possible to slow progression, continued exercising in the capacity he can, has had surgeries to relieve the back pain associated with the posture issues, etc. Unfortunately, the research into PD is not strong and he is progressively losing the parts of life that we all take for granted..
Now for some good news: there is a fantastic opportunity in a newer clinical trial, which has shown some very promising results. The study filled quickly, but my mom would not give up, and in nothing short of a miracle, we got him in!! My dad finally feels hope again! There are so many things I could say as a medical provider about what this means to the future of brain injury and diseases, but at this moment, if at minimum, it slows progression and at maximum gives him some of his life back, we would walk on hot coals 24 hours a day to make this happen.
This is where we need your help. The U.S. FDA is ridiculously slow in its approvals, and this will require travel outside the country. All told, this will cost my parents approximately $60,000. The research and the possibilities involved for all patients with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, MD, TBI, stroke, and more would be enough to make this a worthwhile endeavor. Getting our dad, “grampy” and husband back; my dad getting his life back…now, THAT is magical.
We are not a family that would normally ask anyone for help. In fact, we are usually the ones offering our help to others. We need help. Please consider giving what you can, or sharing this to anyone who is able. We will be sharing the journey to all who would like to follow along, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
With all our love,
The Lynch Family
