Urgent Update!!!

Dearest loved ones and friends. We are almost there! We have raised some money outside of the GFM however we are just $1500 short for the monastery burial donation. If anyone could please help us reach this goal quickly we can finally set a burial date and lay our beloved Yorgos to rest. We are raising funds on GoFundMe to cover funeral and burial expenses for our beloved friend, Yorgos Antoniou, including a $5,000 donation to St. Anthony’s Monastery where he will be buried in Florence, Arizona, which is connected to Mount Athos in Greece.

Yorgos was a gifted musician and artist, the first Greek to receive a full scholarship at the New England Conservatory of Music. He also studied microtonal music at MIT and earned his doctorate in music composition at Stanford. He became an American citizen in 2000.

Beyond his immense talent, Yorgos was a deeply spiritual and generous soul—giving in every way, whether through his music, his wisdom, or his kindness. He had a heart of gold. He touched countless lives with his warmth, compassion, and selflessness.

Tragically, Yorgos died of a heart attack at the young age of 59 on February 14th, 2025. We, his devoted friends, are coming together to ensure he receives a dignified funeral and a Holy burial at St. Anthony’s Monastery. Any support you can offer to honor his memory would be greatly appreciated and urgently needed.
