The HGR Project is a venture started by four dedicated high school students and one college student to support Yongin Animal Protection Association (YAPA). We wish to improve the living conditions for the dogs at the shelter and work for their welfare.
Our team members are focused on donating a new metal sink and a dry room for a Korean private dog rescue by mid-July as the organization is direly in need of these items. The organization we are donating the product to, Yongin Animal Protection Association, does not have a separate bathing system and is currently using a small metal sink to bathe the dogs. The sink is also a place where the drinking water of the dogs comes from, so it is both unhygienic and inefficient. Also, the fact that there is no dry room for the dogs makes them more susceptible to skin diseases. As so, we are hoping to donate a new metal sink just for bathing purpose and a dry room for the dogs.
We have contacted many companies to figure out if anybody would be willing to support our dogs. Luckily, we found a good deal for a metal sink that amounts to $200. Another company offered us a dry room for $2,500, which is about a 20% discount. Thus, our goal is to raise $2,700.

YAPA runs solely depending on volunteers and donations. Unfortunately, shelters funded by the Korean government only keep stray dogs for a maximum of ten days, and afterward, the majority of these dogs are euthanized. YAPA was organized to rescue the dogs at risk of euthanization, and its ultimate goal is to provide a safe, healthy environment for them until YAPA finds their forever homes. YAPA is a very active organization continuously receiving rescue dogs, therefore needing substantial financial and hands-on support as soon as possible in order to maintain its operations. This is the reason we jump-started HGR as a means of additional funding.
HGR stands for han-geo-reum (한 걸음), which translates to ‘one step’. HGR’s logo symbolizes our commitment to dogs and our hope that all rescue dogs will establish a loving, stable life with their families.
