Our mom, Yong, was recently diagnosed with one of the rarest and most aggressive forms of stomach cancer — Linitis Plastica.
It moves fast, and we are fighting just as fast to get her the specialized care she needs.
Anyone who knows Yong knows her strength and kindness. Now she needs a community to stand with her.
To give her the best chance possible, we are hoping to pursue treatment in Tampa, FL at Moffitt Cancer Center, one of the nation’s leading institutions for complex and rare cancers like Linitis Plastica. It’s about 1.5 hours away from us, but the level of expertise she needs makes the travel worth it. Unfortunately, the costs tied to consultations, advanced imaging, treatment planning, travel, and ongoing care are far beyond what insurance covers — especially because, for us, this care is out‑of‑network.
As a family, we’re nervous — and honestly a little embarrassed — to ask for help. It’s uncomfortable to be this vulnerable. But sometimes the strongest thing you can do is let people show up for you. There are moments in life when you can’t carry everything on your own, and this is one of those moments for us. Opening ourselves up like this is scary, but it’s also hopeful — because it means giving Yong every possible chance by allowing others to stand with her.
Your donation directly supports:
- The expert care and treatment approach that gives Yong her best chance
- Treatment‑related expenses not covered by insurance
- Travel, lodging, nutrition, and supportive care
- The stability Yong needs to focus fully on healing
Every contribution — no matter the amount — helps us move one step closer to giving her the best chance possible.
And even if you’re not able to donate, you can make a meaningful difference.
Sharing posts, spreading the word, sending prayers, and offering positivity all help more than you know. You never know who in your network might know someone who knows someone who can contribute, offer guidance, or connect us with additional resources.
Community has a way of reaching farther than we ever expect.
