Friends and family,

My sister and I are reaching out for support at a very difficult time. Our mother, Yolanda Hogg, was very badly injured after falling down a flight of steep marble steps on September 19th. She sustained many injuries including a broken neck, 2 additional spinal fractures, broken ribs, both a lacerated spleen and kidney, facial fractures, a broken wrist, a partially collapsed lung, eye trauma, damage to her teeth, and cuts and bruises.

Despite everything that has happened, we feel very lucky that her injuries were not worse and that she may avoid having any surgeries. Time will tell. While her path to recovery is not at all clear, we grow hopeful with every passing day as she shines her light and manages to stay positive. We know that she is still trying to take care of us and make sure we are ok by "staying strong". We are taking it one day at a time, but we are confident our mamita will dance again one day (one of her favourite things to do).

We are asking for financial support to help cover all the expenses that are not covered by OHIP/health care. At this time we know this will include a walker and/or wheelchair, modifications to her home, and in-home care when she is released from hospital.

Anyone who knows our mom knows how much energy and ZEST she possesses. She was still roaring and working full-time to support herself. At this time, she is of course unable to work and this will result in a lot of financial strain for her and our family. Any little bit helps and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.
