Yolanda's Fight: Cancer and Housing Crisis

Donation protected
Hello dear friends, family, and supporters,

My name is Alfredo Calle. It deeply saddens me to write this, but I find the strength to do so in hopes of raising some funds for my dear sister, Yolanda. Yolanda Calle Arancibia has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Gastric Cancer. I write this in hopes that in sharing my sister’s story, we find truly amazing people who can contribute in any type of way. Whether it’s sharing her story, a small donation, or through prayer, her family would be more than grateful for anything during this challenging time.

Yolanda started to feel ill the last few months, with stomach pains that were unbearable and ended in the emergency room multiple times. She was then sent to do a colonoscopy where they found some clues and ran some tests, reaching the conclusion of her devastating diagnosis.

In the early 2000s, Yolanda moved to the US in hopes of the American Dream. Sadly, she has no family other than me here in California. Originally from Peru, she came like any other immigrant, in hope of a better life. Little did she know that she would find her passion in taking care of babies and young children. She has worked in many people's homes as a babysitter and nanny to many children who felt her true loving nature. She taught them to speak a little Spanish, helped with their homework, and served them as if they were her real blood relatives.

Her battle has just begun; we know that. But Yolanda is an in-home caregiver to her current family and has been asked to leave due to her current state. The family feels bad to have a woman with stage 4 cancer work for them while she has to go through all this pain, go to appointments, get chemotherapy, be completely wiped out after treatments, and then go to work. It just doesn’t seem like the right thing.

I am desperately seeking help for Yolanda (or Chabela as we call her) because in a few weeks she will be homeless while battling this terrible illness. I live more than 2 hours away from her and I am trying to do my best to visit, but this isn’t enough.

All funds gathered here will be used solely for her needs: housing, food, transportation, and any other needs that may arise in this difficult time. I implore all you amazing people out there to pray for my dear sister. Anything at all will help her fight this. Yolanda deserves to stand up and fight cancer in an honorable way, not being on the streets or sadly crashing with me in my small studio apartment.

I pray that our message, her story, reaches the right people and touches people's hearts. Even if you can’t donate, please share her story. Anything at all will help her live an honorable life while on treatment. Your generosity will multiply many, many times over, and you will have our eternal gratitude for your kindness.

Please help her and give her a fighting chance.

From the bottom of my heart, our family’s heart, we thank you for your love, kindness, and support.
