Yok's Medical & Funeral Costs

Hi, my name is Sarah Chem, and I will be assisting in raising funds to help pay for Yok's medical and funeral costs.
An unexpected turn of events occurred on 5/17/22 where Yok suffered a heart attack, had several strokes and lung infection. He was admitted to the University of lowa hospital where he stayed in the cardiovascular intensive care unit for 5 days. He was later moved to hospice care where he passed two days later.
Yok loved and deeply cared for his family. He was a tenacious man, led his family to safety fleeing on foot from Cambodia to Thailand during the Khmer Rouge takeover. Knowing no English nor knowledge of western culture, he managed to build a wonderful life in a small farming community in southeast lowa where he worked at the local grocery store as the butcher for 40 years. He leaves behind a wife, 5 children and 8 grandchildren.
