Yoko’s emergency care
Donation protected
Our little Yoko was attacked by a dog on Thursday and has become extremely unwell. She has spent the weekend in ICU receiving all the help she can to try and pull through. Yoko is the most gentle, sweet and loving cat we could ask for. We have been blessed to have her in our lives for the last year and half, she has become such a special part of our little family. Since having her she has stolen the hearts of all our neighbours, so much so we have been asked to bring her around for tea.
On Thursday after the attack she went into the vet as she was in a lot of pain and could not bare weight on her back leg. The vets thought that perhaps she could have broken some bones as we couldn’t find much blood. After giving her a shave and X-rays they discovered a puncture wound and significant muscle tissue damage to her leg. A build up of fluid had also occurred which required surgery and antibiotics.
Unfortunately, she isn’t out of the woods yet, she deteriorated, became unresponsive and unable to move. With little signs of improvement, she remains in ICU. Our little girl is extremely sick and remaining in a critical condition. They worked hard to stabilise her and are constantly monitoring her. The vets were all very unsure of the predominant cause, she has received lots of medication and different tests to try and identify what is going on. Today she has shown small but hopeful signs of improvement, she has lifted her head and ate a small amount of food. This news has been huge for us and only ignites Amy and I to continue the care for her. Unfortunately, we are almost up to $10,000 in vet bills already and the insurance will only cover $1,500 of that. If you can we would really appreciate any assistance you might be able to offer to help us give Yoko the best chance at making it through! Thank you
