Yohonna Conway’s Long Road to Recovery Fund

Donation protected
In the late afternoon of Monday, March 25, 2019, our sweet and loving friend, Yohonna Conway was involved in a serious car accident which could have easily taken her life. She was headed back home from a clinical rotation in Murray County. This clinical is one part of her Nurse Practitioner program  in which she was set to graduate from later this year. The weather that afternoon was dangerous with powerful thunderstorms which undoubtedly contributed to the accident. Due to the severe weather, she was unable to be flown by helicopter to Erlanger and taken by ambulance to Gordon Emergency Department for stabilization. At Gordon, the same nurses, doctors, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and radiology techs with whom she has worked with for well over 20 years, were now in charge of getting her stabilized enough to make it by ambulance to Erlanger. They quickly worked to assess her injuries, get her pain under control, and get her stable before transferring. While en route to Erlanger, she received several units of blood due to her blood loss. Once at Erlanger and with expertise of the trauma team, they were able to finally examine her completely. Yohonna’s injuries include a left hip fracture, left ankle fracture, right foot fracture, an open right elbow dislocation and fracture, a distal right radius fracture, 6
rib fractures, a fractured vertebrae, a large pulmonary contusion, and several lacerations. Needless to say, she is a very fortunate and lucky lady to be able to have survived this horrific accident . She is currently in ICU with one surgery under her belt. She will have to have several more surgeries and procedures along with a very long road to recovery to follow.

Yohonna is one of the first people to step up and help out when her fellow co-workers and friends are enduring difficult times. Hence, this decision to create a fundraising page was an easy one. Any money raised will go straight to her husband, David, and children, Chloe, Annalise, and Issy to help with expenses during this difficult time. Yohonna has always worked multiple nursing jobs so not having this income is going to be difficult for her family. Furthermore, she has worked in countless different hospitals, clinics, hospice agencies, and even nursing homes in Northwest Georgia and in doing so as touched and blessed so many of our lives. Whether in the capacity of a co-worker, caregiver, supervisor, or friend, Yohonna has made an impact on anyone and everyone she has ever come in contact with.

Please be generous and consider donating  to Yohonna and her family during this long road to recovery and their time of need. Her co-workers have also set up a donation account through Greater Community Bank which have offices in Calhoun and Rome if you’d rather donate there. As I said before, all funds will be going directly to Yohonna and her family. The location of Greater Community Banks are listed below and we’ve been told that all you have to do is walk in and say “I want to donate to Yohonna”. The fund there is entitled the Yohonna Conway fund. Thank you and take care.
