Yogesh, dearly known as Yogi, was a beloved father, a devoted husband, and a loving uncle. Everyone knew him for his upbeat personality, and he was the life of the party.
He was a fighter. He battled End-Stage Renal Disease from Diabetes for years and recently Primary Biliary Cholangitis. This week we lost him, gone too early, but he left us with countless memories that we will cherish forever.
His family and friends knew him for his love for animals. In India, very few people house animals. No soul should be hungry to Yogi, including stray dogs and cows. On any given day, there would be a hoard of dogs in front of his porch. Why? He had a cabinet with an endless supply of Parle G cookies and snacks that he would buy just to feed the animals. He used to say, “my house is the only one that didn’t get robbed because these dogs protect me.”
He was the first in the family to formally adopt a dog, Charlie. In no time, all his siblings followed suit. There are now 5 dogs in our family, and our family is inseparable from our pets.
He was born on July 8th, and left in peace on March 14th. The number 8 when rotated resembles “infinity” and March 14th, also known as Pi day, is a number that never ends. This is how we know that he will always be present in our lives.
To honor his memory, we are raising funds to donate to an animal shelter in India, which will house stray animals and shower them with as much love and appreciation as Yogi did. Our goal is to reach $1968, signifying the year he was born.
We will keep your spirit alive!
