Hi Everyone,
This is Deborah advocating for my dear friend, Beth.
In June of 2013, Yogabeth was rear ended by a tractor trailer and suffered debilitating & complex injuries to her neck which changed her life forever. She has been paying "out of pocket" for all medical & travel expenses to see specialists in the United States. She has gotten Medicaid on St. John since the accident but it does not cover any of the treatments necessary. She has endured 4 years of pain & suffering. She has accumulated medical bills of six figures and growing. Daily life is a struggle that feels overwhelming and at times hopeless. At this point, it is too much to handle in silence and she gave me permission to share with her community the emotional, physical & financial stress she has been carrying. I know Beth is a valued member of our community so I am reaching out to you now. She is very limited in her physical capacity. She's been told by the doctors that she should not lift ANYTHING heavier than a fork! And, as many of you know, she can no longer actively teach yoga. She is in pain everyday & unable to perform daily living tasks by herself. I am reaching out to you to raise funds so she may be able to continue necessary treatments & healing as well as to start decreasing her already large medical debts.
Beth is a private person when it comes to her own personal challenges. As a yoga teacher/healer & happy person, she always has a smile on her face & a positive attitude regardless of what may be happening. She is the first to be there to support our community. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you could offer her so that she may focus on her treatments & healing. She recenly sold her car on St. John to help pay for her most recent procedure.
She was recently in Boulder, Colorado under the care of her sister, Laura. She has had to go there two previous times for another, procedure that, unfortunately, did not work. This time, she had a very, painful stem cell injection therapy procedure on May 20th. This is harvesting bone marrow stem cells from her pelvis and injecting them, through her mouth, into the alar juncture/neck for regeneration. This is a cutting edge, experimental medical procedure as she is not a candidate for any type of disc fusion for stability or repair of the neck. We will know in 3 months if this will help on stabilizing the neck to assist in her pain management, but more procedures will be necessary. The doctors are telling her she will need to go through this stem cell treatment two more times! She incurred multiple complications immediately following this
procedure which ramped up her stress more than ever. Her physical & emotional state has never been challenged to this extent.
She will be with Robert, in Maine, healing this summer but will continue to accumulate bills and expenses as medical treatments are ongoing.
I thank you for considering a donation. Your support, inspiration & love Is greatly appreciated!!
❤️Deborah
