Bikram Yoga Teacher Training Certification

Hello, this is Aicha. Let me begin by thanking you in advance for even considering helping me out as I embark on this next journey in my life.

Growing up in Morocco in North Africa, I always considered myself skinny and weak. I came to the United States in 1984. After moving here, I had so many life experiences but never was into any form of yoga. I thought flexibility was a requirement to fully participate in yoga.

In 2011, I decided to try Bikram yoga for the first time. Though I didn't have a terrible experience, I wasn't fully committed at the level I am right now. In 2012, I ran my first marathon and found that yoga provided healing to my body. I continued to run marathon after marathon, and found that Bikram yoga was a constant source of physical healing, more so than any doctor or physical therapist.

In September 2018, my dear dog Sophie died, and I went into a deep depression, and yoga allowed me to grieve in a healthy manner. Once again, my practice saved me from the emotional pain I was enduring. For the past five years, I have been really consistent with my practice, and it has changed my life.

Turning 55 in March of this year was a major milestone for me. I'm embarking on this journey because it is the best opportunity right now. I have always wanted to go to teacher training, but I lacked the confidence or courage to do so. After quite a bit of positive self-talk, I know that now is the right time. I am a prime example that you are never too old to follow your dreams.

I want to give back. Bikram yoga has been a gift to me that has truly enriched my life. I know that I've been given much, and I feel I have a responsibility to give back.

I do, however, need your help. Bikram yoga teacher certification takes place at Graceland Khao Lak Beach Resort in Takua-Pa, Phang Nga (Thailand) from April 16-June 18, 2023. The cost of certification is quite expensive. The training cost, which includes double occupancy accommodations, is approximately $13,000. In addition, the cost of the round-trip flight is approximately $2000.

I sincerely ask for your assistance. Any contribution helps. Upon my return, I hope to be able to share my learning with others as a certified teacher. Having worked at Bikram Yoga San Jose for the past five years, beginning as a karma yogi and moving to an events supervisor, I have seen the difference the practice and the teachers have made in the lives of hundreds of others. This request isn't about giving to me; it's about me being able to change lives in the way Bikram yoga has changed me.
