Hello we are trying to raise funds to help yoda be able to walk again. Yoda is nearly a 3 year old adorable, crazy, clever, funny frenchie. He's one of the cutest, snuggly dogs that you could ever meet. He loves playing with his toys and running around going crazy. He's a very loving boy who likes to snuggle up and gets so excited to see his favourite people.
5 weeks ago we woke up one morning and he wasn't able to walk anymore. The fun little ball of energy that he was suddenly was in pain and started to drag his back legs. We then took him to the vets and was told that he potentially has IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) and the vets suggested 6 weeks strict crate rest to see if he recovers. This was heartbreaking as seeing him so full of life to not being fussed with anything anymore and in pain was awful. After a week on pain meds he started to get back to his crazy, happy self and become yoda again but he is still unable to walk.
Over the last few weeks he's had to be in a pen, wearing a nappy and not being able to be himself fully because of having to rest. He's made some progress and has stood up a few times, he keeps lifting his bum up to stand up and has feeling in his legs but even with encouragement and support he is still unable to walk.
He's no longer in pain but just unable to walk still, after a visit to the vets today they've put him on steroids to hopefully try and help him regain movement but he desperately needs a mri scan which is at a staggering cost of £2.5k. Unfortunately even though we have a pet plan in place we didn't set up insurance as this totally came out of the blue. We are trying to raise at least 2 thousand for him to be able to get a scan and see how much damage has been caused, if surgery is needed it's a hefty cost of 5k. We've tried charity's and asked for advice but they've not been able to help and starting a go fund me is really our last option.
If we can make it to at least cover the mri and he doesn't need a operation we will then close this down but will remain open of a operation is needed.
This is truly heartbreaking and having seen a huge difference from over night to him not being able to be wild and free and walk is devastating. He's our companion and it hurts so much seeing him be happy in himself but not being able to be out of his pen and running around.
Regular updates of yoda will be made and we thank everyone so much in advance if you're able to donate to help our boy walk again
