Trying to save my home

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Eve. I just now a few minutes ago received some bad news from management. Because I still owe $2,500 on my back rent they want it within 5 days. I'm very sorry, but I still need some help. I only have 6-1/2 months left before I retire and I really want to stay and retire here because it's affordable. I'm sorry to have to do this, but any help would be greatly appreciate.

For those who don’t know, I fell behind in my rent for several reasons. I am an equal partner in a small business started with my ex-husband while we were married. In the divorce, I did not ask for alimony, only that we remain equal partners in the business. After sharing the business for 14 years he abruptly shut me out of the business account by opening a new account which he still has not given the information to me. And mostly because when I take early retirement next year it will be affordable for me to live here and try to finally work on finding some peace in my life and learn to live again as I've become a city hermit, rarely leaving my home expect when necessary for groceries or work for our small business.

While we have talked and he has agreed to help me with current rent, he said he is unable to help with any past-due balance. He has not explained why he will not give me the new business account information. I believe it is because I had to take a lot of days off from my job as a legal transcriptionist to resolve help with legal and insurance problems the business is having. He does not seem to understand that I am doing two jobs, one as a legal transcriptionist and one as manager of the business which takes up a lot of my time and I had to use the business account for personal expenses such as groceries and travel expenses to and from zoning and studying at the law library and writing pleadings.

I’m desperately trying to save my little home because I’ve lived here four years and it feels like my home and I cannot afford to move to a more expensive apartment, and because I’ve become a part of a community and know my neighbors and I feel like I finally have a home where I feel safe and comfortable for the first time since our divorce seven years ago, which occurred due to infidelity during his mid-life crisis.

I’ve been on my own since I was 16 and have never asked for help. I will never forget all the amazing, kind, and generous people who helped with my first fundraiser to pay off half of my outstanding balance. A part of me feels like giving up, and of course, I feel so embarrassed to do this again, but I have to try to keep fighting for my little modest home that is affordable for me to retire in. I’m only eight or nine months from retiring and all this will be over, and I won’t need help again.

Any help at all means the world to me. Thank you.
