Baby Caden Jacob was born 12/23/22 at 1242pm. He was 7lbs 2oz and 20 3/4 inches of little brother! His mom and dad, Katie and CJ, and his big brother Kyson (21mo) were ecstatic. Pretty quickly Caden started struggling and was intubated to help with his breathing. Over the next several hours test after test was ran because Caden's oxygen just wasn't improving. Eventually Caden was life flighted to Oklahoma City to the children's hospital about an hour and a half away. Caden was born with Transposition of the Greater Ateries. A condition where the main vessels of his heart are switched causing 2 seperate circulations in his system.The first one goes from the body to the heart and out (completely missing the lungs) so this loop of blood has unoxygenated blood circulating to all his organs. The other circulation is from the lungs to the heart and back. Circulating super oxygenated blood just from heart to lungs. So his organs aren't able to get enough oxygen. Caden is fighting to be strong enough to get his open heart surgery. He is the strongest little fighter in the world, but he's going to be in the hospital for quite a while. Mom and dad are doing amazingly trying to parent 2 little boys in 2 very different places. Between gas, hotel, and food making the trips back and forth from Broken Arrow, and the amount of time off of work mom and dad need in order to be at his bedside... this journey is going to take a toll. I'm hoping taking one layer of stress off thier plate can help so they can focus that energy on Caden.
