Echo City Knockouts - Spokarnage
Donation protected
The Echo City Knockouts (ECKO), Kona’s first and only women’s roller derby team, is an organization dedicated to promoting athleticism, good sportswomanship and female empowerment through the sport of women’s flat-track roller derby. It is our mission to provide a positive environment that instills courage, integrity and mutual respect in our athletes while helping them to excel in the sport they love. ECKO adheres to the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) philosophy and is operated “by the skaters, for the skaters.” ECKO believes that women of all walks of life can be strong and independent while managing a career and personal life, and can excel in an otherwise male dominated sports world. We are committed to the growth and development of roller derby on the Big Island of Hawai’i and beyond through competition and fellowship with other leagues. It is also our mission to donate and volunteer time at community events and participate in the causes of charitable organizations.
Every member of the Echo City Knockouts strives to work hard and excel both on and off the track. Roller Derby is not simply about strapping on skates and putting in the effort, its about building relationships within our community, encouraging women and girls to reach for the stars, and about building life skills through teamwork and dedication. We bring this passion for our sport everywhere we go, and we proudly represent Kona when we travel interisland several times each year and to the mainland to compete against other women’s roller derby teams.
This particular fundraiser is to help us get to Spokane, Washington to compete in a 3 day tournament called Spokarnage. This is a great opportunity for us to represent Kona, as well as raise awareness that there is roller derby within the islands and hopefully interest mainland teams to come and compete here in Hawaii as well. Any donation will not only allow ECKO to compete, but will demonstrate that teamwork and dedication can bring success.
We want to thank you for any donation you can make to support our team. It is greatly appreciated by every member of the Echo City Knockouts. We will continue to strive to be positive members of the Kona community through encouragement and positive attitudes and fostering the development of women’s sports within our islands.
The Echo City Knockouts is a non-profit organization under the IRS 501(c)(3), so any donation made to the team will be tax deductible.
