On August 19, 2022, Nikia Crear, and her boyfriend, Vaughn were returning home from an evening drive in Denison, TX at approximately 10:30 p.m. It’s something they did often that made them both feel at peace before going to bed. They truly enjoyed this time together and the solace the drive would bring them, but this night was different.

As they were driving down the road, Vaughn lost control of the car to avoid an erratic driver that resulted in a tragic accident. What happened next was unthinkable – Nikia was ejected from the car through the windshield and landed on the pavement. Unfortunately, Vaughn died at the scene of the accident. Nikia was transported to the hospital where she was examined and has road rash all over her lower extremities, multiple stitches on her forehead, right ear, under her neck, and has a sprained right foot. It is only by God’s grace that she is alive.

Even though her physical scars and pain will eventually subside and heal, Nikia has a long road to recovery ahead of her. The financial and mental stress is overwhelming. Vaughn brought so much happiness and joy to Nikia, and she is lost in a lot of ways without him. She must start a whole new journey and her life has been altered forever. Her desire and goal to become an armed guard in Oklahoma is stalled even though she previously completed one physical test, but she cannot complete the additional training and tests at this time.

Nikia has lost Vaughn whom she lived with, her car, and her ability to work to name a few. She is now left with medical bills, household needs/bill, the need for physical therapy, and no car.
