As many of you know, My father August Prestano passed away on 11/23/2024 after 1 month of battling a life threatening infection and a ileostomy surgery. While in surgery he lost 5 pints of blood and they had to keep him fully sedated for a total of 5 days in order to make sure he had enough blood transfusions to revive his health back. Once they were able to get that under control he was able to be awake and was fully alert and had his sense of humor back and we thought it was uphill from there. In the past few weeks following he was moved from the hospital to a specialty center to help get him to walk again and live life with an ileostomy bag. At this time we thought he was getting better. Last week things turned for the worst. My father was told that he could have regular food then told he could have a liquid diet. Neither one worked for his proper nutrition so we did a NGN feeding tube, at that time we did not know that the tube had wrapped around his vocal cords which untilmitaley made him loose his voice and open his airway even more so which caused food to go into his lungs. He had to leave the specialty center and back into the ICU where we as a family were told that not only is his infection back in the abdomen, aspirated pneumonia and his kidneys started to shut down and they wanted to start kidney dialysis which we started to help prolong his life a bit longer. Then My family and I were hit with even more devastating news. My father was diagnosed with Cancer of the stomach which was rapidly spreading and we had to move fast to get all the other things under control before we could start any kind of Chemotherapy. He had the 1st kidney dialysis and it improved a little bit but the second treatment did not resulting in Caradic arrest and he passed just after midnight. We are doing our best to remain strong but with all the medical expenses rolling in and the sudden passing of My father we don't know how to stay calm when knowing we don't have many funds to take care of everything that is needed including my families living situation. My family and I would thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of our hearts for all the kind words, thoughts,
prayers and any donations made in order to give him a proper memorial service so we can say Goodbye to him one last time and to help my mother not worry about her finances and living situation. If you are not able to donate that is ok but sharing this will help us reach more and more people that can during this devastating time in our lives.
❤️ The Prestano Family
