Vilma Casabal's Memorial
Donation protected
We, the family of Mrs. Vilma E. Casabal, former school teacher in Batangas, Philippines are asking for your help.
Vilma and her husband, Marcelino Casabal Sr (also a retired teacher in the Philippines) came to Winnipeg on a tourist visa last September (2 months ago) to visit their youngest son, Marcelino Casabal Jr who has a medical heart condition and is currently awaiting a heart transplant.
Marcelino Jr (35 years old) moved to Winnipeg two years ago to find work (he lives with his older brother, Christopher and his wife, Elizabeth and children who also arrived in Winnipeg not too long ago) when it was discovered earlier this year that his heart is failing and will require a transplant. He has not been able to work since then.
With the news that their son is very ill, Vilma and Marcelino Sr decided to come to Winnipeg on a tourist visa to care for and spend time with him and see him through his upcoming heart operation.
It is with great sadness that Vilma herself, suffered a stroke on November 19 and passed away on November 22nd at the age of 71, at the Seven Oaks Hospital, leaving behind her family and her son whom she came here to take care of.
Because Vilma is here on a tourist visa, her medical bills are not covered and she did not have insurance. She was in the hospital for four days and her hospital stay alone is in the thousands.
Her family has decided that she will have a memorial and be buried here in Winnipeg; which is added cost on top of her medical bills.
We ask for your cash donation, any amount will be of great help to the Casabal family.
We thank you in advance for all of your support. It will certainly help us get through this sorrowful time.
Vilma's memorial will be held at:
Mosaic Funeral Home
1839 Inkster Blvd.
Winnipeg, Manitoba
