Taking on the Height of Everest in 3 days
My name is Satti Saggu and I have set myself a physical, mental, and emotional endurance challenge, all to support 2 charities: Meningitis Now and Tommy’s.
What’s the challenge.
From 17th to 20th July 2023, I will be running, walking, and crawling the equivalent height to Everest! This is a whopping 29,032ft (8,849 meters) or approximately 29 times the height of the Shard in London.
I am hoping to do this by running up and down Ben Nevis. This challenge I know will push my body to the extreme, even more so as I am the first to avoid hills of any description.
Both the charities do excellent work in their respective areas supporting people who have been impacted by Meningitis or miscarriages / baby loss respectively.
I have included below a summary of my inspiration to support these great causes.
Meningitis Now
Meningitis is the inflammation of the membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Some bacteria that cause meningitis can also cause septicaemia* (blood poisoning).
Key facts:
• Meningitis can affect anyone of any age
• Meningitis can kill
• Meningitis can cause long-term after-effects
• Viral and bacterial are the most common causes of meningitis
• No vaccine provides 100% protection against meningitis
• Early signs and symptoms can appear similar to 'flu' or a stomach bug
Further information on Meningitis Now can be found here https://www.meningitisnow.org/
The support charities provide is a beacon of light in the darkest of days. So please contribute (however small) to these great causes so they can continue doing the invaluable work they do.
