Support Amanda Powell’s Battle Against Cancer

If you’ve ever been lucky enough to have a best friend since birth, you probably have a sister. It’s this love and friendship between the 3 of us, that we cherish.
Back in August we received the devastating news that our sister, Amanda, has cancer. The oncology team at Henry Ford was quick to evaluate, diagnose, and form a treatment plan. Soon began Amanda’s new routine of appointments: meeting with doctors, nutritionists, dietitians, speech therapists, physical therapists, and more, so she could do everything possible to fight this cancer diagnosis.
Her first treatment came in the form of major surgery: a complete resection of the solid mass and surrounding lymph nodes in her neck and throat. Almost immediately after, she started concurrent radiation and chemotherapy.
Although her treatment was intense, there was a clear light at the end of the tunnel. We anticipated, that in mid-December, Amanda would complete treatment, and be able to put all of her focus into resting and healing. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned and, at a follow-up CT scan, Amanda’s doctors found that cancer had spread further to her abdomen. It was a big blow because she had to start over with more biopsies and tests, and her doctors had to once again come up with a new treatment plan. This is where we are now, seeking a new path to cure our best friend and sister.
The outpouring of love, encouragement, and positivity that Amanda has already received has been truly touching, and an amazing thing to see. With the love and support from family and friends, and with God watching over her, we are confident that Amanda will have the strength to continue fighting and beat this cancer.
As you can imagine, with as many appointments Amanda has had, and will continue to have, medical bills have racked up quickly and insurance can only help so much. We have set up this GoFundMe in hopes of helping relieve the financial burden so Amanda can simply focus on beating cancer and healing. From the bottom of our hearts, we greatly appreciate any donation, thoughts and prayers for Amanda during this time.
We will continue to update everyone with new information as we journey through this with her. Thank you for being there for Amanda and supporting her treatment in any way possible!
