The Story

Hi, I’m Mark. I run Bonny Wood Guitars, a non-profit workshop based in Limerigg. My mission has always been simple: to craft and restore beautiful instruments with a focus on soul, heritage, and increasingly, sustainability.

Lately, the workshop has seen some significant changes. I’ve made a hard pivot toward a more eco-friendly way of working—moving away from harsh chemicals and committing to only using natural oils, shellacs, and water-based finishes. It’s about making guitars that are as kind to the planet as they are to the ears.

The Challenge

However, while I’m focused on the future of the planet, the workshop building itself is stuck in the past. Time and the Scottish weather haven't been kind to our space.

The workshop is currently in desperate need of a new roof and exterior cladding. The wear and tear have reached a point where it’s no longer just about aesthetics—it’s about protecting the wood, the specialized tools (like our new LVLP system), and the instruments currently on the bench.

Why We Need Your Help

Because Bonny Wood Guitars operates as a non-profit, every penny earned goes directly back into the craft and the community. We don't have a "rainy day fund" for major structural repairs of this scale.

To keep the saws humming and the shellac flowing, we need to raise funds to:

Replace the failing roof to ensure a dry, climate-controlled environment for guitar building.

Re-clad the exterior walls to provide proper insulation and protection against the elements.
