Rwanda Children Exploratory Trip
Donation protected
It wasn’t until I arrived back home from my trip to Kenya in May of 2013, a trip God made possible by the support of friends like you, that I realized the hold Africa had on my heart. It was after that trip that I started praying for another door to open that would allow me to travel back to the land and people I love.
In April, Mark Perkins, my boss at A Ok Driving School in Abilene approached me with the opportunity I had been praying for. He wanted a team of 7 individuals: Mark and his wife, Kelly; Vann, the executive director of the ministry; an additional couple; Duncan, my boyfriend; and me to travel to Kigali and Ntarama, Rwanda in September to see their ministry, Rwanda Children. The entire existence of this non-profit is to provide housing, food, family, and hope to at-risk Rwandan children in the name of Jesus; a cause I am incredibly passionate about.
The purpose of this trip, which is scheduled for September 12-20, would be for Duncan and me to see first-hand the work Rwanda Children is already accomplishing and to consider full-time positions with the ministry upon graduating from Abilene Christian University. After fervent prayer, Duncan and I feel this is a door The Lord has graciously opened for us and now wants us to walk through.
In order to make this trip possible I am asking for the financial support of $2,250. I need to raise $1,755.39 for the flight alone by July 10! I know that is in 5 short days but I am confident that where God guides He provides. The additional $494.61 that I am budgeting for is to pay for additional transportation while in Rwanda, food, medication, or anything else that might arise. Every dollar that you donate will be used entirely for our time in Rwanda, seeing the ministry, traveling to meet Rwandan representatives who have a stake in Rwanda Children, and exploring the capitol and village to see if this is where God would have us move after graduation.
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am! Send me.’” (Isaiah 6:8). Friends, I am once again saying, “Here I am! Send me”, and my prayer is that you will help send me like you did two summers ago by filling the financial piece that I can’t. Thank you in advance. I’m praying blessings over you all.
