Mother shields baby from firework
Donation protected
On July 3rd Shannon was doing what many of us were...enjoying fireworks and celebrating with her children and family. The celebration took a horrific turn when an artillery shell started tipping over and shooting out of control. In a panic with her youngest child in her arms she tried to do what any mother would do and get her baby out of harms way when suddenly she was struck in the cheek with an artillery shell. The shell bounced from her cheek and then discharged in the crowd. Shannon was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where it was determined that she had a fractures in both her upper and lower jaw as well a hole in her cheek. First thing on July 4th she underwent her first surgery to close the cheek and evaluate the damage to her jaw. And by late afternoon july 5th she was facing a second surgery that may result in her jaw being wired shut. She says the pain is excruciating and said "It felt like being hit by a 95 mph fastball". But even in wake of her own suffering and the rough road to recovery she faces she is simply happy to have kept her daughter safe and injury free. She is her daughters hero! In the upcoming weeks Shannon faces a difficult recovery, possibly more surgeries, and an unknown amount of time unable to work. Shannon is the primary provider for herself and her 2 girls and while recovering she will still be responsible for their needs and care. I created this in hopes to raise some money so that Shannon can recovery with as little worries or struggles as possible. Please help in making sure this "SUPERMOM" has a super smooth recovery. Any and all donations, support, prayers,or encouraging words will be tremendously appreciated. Thanks for visiting
