Erica Russo's Covid Recovery Fund
Erica got sick with COVID in August of 2020, and it’s been an extremely challenging year. She has been hospitalized five times and spent the first few months of recovery entirely bedridden. While Erica has come a long way, she is still seriously ill with chronic, post-COVID health complications. We’re asking for your help in supporting her ongoing recovery!
As a result of COVID, Erica has been diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Dysautonomia, severe Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and several other serious chronic conditions. She regularly sees seven specialist doctors, takes many medications and supplements, and continues to undergo invasive tests and procedures.
COVID and its aftermath have completely changed Erica’s life. One year later, she still can't walk for more than a minute or climb the stairs to her apartment. She can’t drive, make her own food, or do any household tasks. She hasn’t been able to play music or sing. She can’t hold a long conversation or look at screens for an extended period of time. She has vision and speech difficulties and cannot draw, read, or write. She lives with a very high level of daily chronic pain. While her doctors are optimistic that her health and quality of life will continue to improve, they all agree - recovery will take a long time.
We’re planning for at least another year of continued medical treatment before Erica may be able to return to work. To support her during this time, we’re raising money to cover healthcare costs and living expenses including:
