This is a hard thing to do, to ask for help. Especially when you are people who do it all and do it on your own.
At the beginning of December, my husband was told without treatment he had no more than 2 months to live. He was diagnosed with large B-cell lymphoma, which came out of nowhere and took us by surprise. Luckily, there is treatment, but it takes many months and already many hospital stays. Mike is also a paraplegic and although he lives in a wheelchair, we have been unable to afford a wheelchair van. So we have had to rent one at $2,500 per month. Due to the condition, we have to have one at all times, not just for his treatments.
All of this comes after my mom (my everything) passed away in August, and I had 2 full knee replacements in late September. Both my husband and I are on disability/SSI and make $1,400 per month. We rely on our children a great deal for help and financial support. I thank the world for them, but it is unfair to burden them in this way.
We are looking for help towards the purchase of a van and other help with medical supplies and such, as well as the van rental in the meantime. I greatly thank anyone who can and does help.
