Hello, my name is Sherry and this is my Big Sister Kristie Ann
She is the person who asks for nothing and needs your help. Kristie Ann has touched so many lives and has been an inspiration for so many…however, behind the scenes she has severely struggled to keep that special light that she shines. When the doctors failed her medically she lost her battle to save her leg…but she still pushed forward and kicked ass. She has advocated, and pushed medical barriers like no other…but has been let down by our health system in so many ways. She has struggled to adjust to being an amputee and with little support from Kaiser’s mental/physical support and the suffering took her down a different path of alcohol addiction. It numbed her pain but was also killing her little by little. Kristie Ann finally hit rock bottom and thanks to her best friends, Ron and Barb, she is now in a recovery program. She is finally coming back to Kristie Ann we know and the process has been slow, very painful, and an emotional nightmare…however, she realized she is broken in so many ways and needs help! She is the bravest, strongest person I know and I am beyond proud of her…although she’s embarrassed and ashamed. She is my hero, she is my light, my inspiration and she is human and not perfect. She is on the path to recovery but as we all know the path is long, painful, and expensive. In order to save Kristie Ann she had to go outside of her medical network to get into an intense recovery program through The Ho Tai Way Recovery Program for Women. She spent the first 14 days in their caring hands to help her through detox and to start coming out of the fog she has been in for so long. She just hit her 14-day sober milestone and finally was transferred to a program that Kaiser will cover (at least for now). She is starting to shine little by little and the big sister I grew up with is finally coming back. I want to take as much of the financial burden off of her and reach out to family, friends, and her support system to ask for your help. We have incurred approximately $13,000 in recovery fees to get her where she is today and I ask that all of us pull together and help Kristie Ann with being successful in her recovery without worrying about how much this is costing her…she needs to focus on learning the tools to live her life, to heal from her trauma, and to do it sober. Any amount that you can give will make a difference in Kristie Ann’s life and recovery.
