MISSION STATEMENT

We will expand the educational opportunities for foster children, assisting in stress management to increase social interaction, which will contribute to self-awareness and self-esteem. With your help, we will initiate our "Fostering Scholars" program, enabling foster children access to computers and technology.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is an acronym for Fostering Remarkable Individuals, Educating (&) Nourishing Development Services

There are over 14,000 children in the foster care system in Indiana and roughly 6,200 licensed foster parents.

My name is Larry Cornett, I am the Executive director at F.R.I.E.N.D.S. of Indiana Inc., my wife Lesa and I have been a licensed therapeutic foster home for 13 years, fostering over 20 foster kids of various ages, genders, and ethnicities. We have first-hand knowledge of the lack of traditional educational opportunities for therapeutic foster children. Most therapeutic foster children are placed in "special needs" or "life skills" classes, taught only the minimum basics (i.e. colors, ABCs, 1-2-3s).

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. of Indiana Inc. is currently working on a project that consists of obtaining the appropriate computers, software, and office essentials to proficiently train staff and foster children.
