Cody’s Road to Recovery

Cody Greilich is a 17 year-old senior at Mukwonago High School. Two nights ago, he went to University of Oshkosh to visit a few friends. While up there, he got into a verbal altercation with a 20 year-old student who punched him in his head and knocked Cody out. Cody hit his head on the concrete and ambulance was called. He ended up needing to be sent out on Flight-for-Life helicopter to the Children’s hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa. From there he was rushed into the ICU where he was examined. When examined, the doctors found out that he had a brain bleed to the right side of his head, a frontal lobe bruise, a fracture in the right side of his skull, fracture to his upper jaw, and neck trauma. Cody has been examined by many professionals and has received multiple CT scans to ensure that the bleed didn’t spread. He was in the ICU for two days and now has returned home this evening (11/9). 

From here, we don’t know what the future holds. Cody is doing better now but is in extreme pain. This injury can and will result in long-term effects that we are unsure of. As for medical bills, Cody’s mother, Mary Jo, lost her job in April due to Covid-19 and has been struggling to make sure her family is stable. With these medical bills, it will make her and her family’s life’s extremely difficult. His mom’s insurance is unable to cover the Flight-for-Life helicopter and a large portion of the medical bills. We are asking for any support you can give to help Cody’s recovery with his hospital visit, Flight-for-Life, and doctors appointments that are yet to come. The 20 year-old student who punched Cody has now been arrested and is being charged for a felony of battery assault of a minor and disorderly conduct. 

Lastly, we are asking for prayers for Cody and his family as this will be a long road to recovery. We are so blessed that he is alive and safe now and that he was able to come home this evening. ❤️ Thank you to everyone reaching out to insure Cody is okay and is as comfortable as he can be.
