Blessed are those who mourn; for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4

It's interesting how life can change in an instant. We received the call yesterday evening that every parent fears. My wife's 19 yr old son Jaden decided to end his life. The past 24 hours we have been through the full range of emotions and at the end of the spectrum the question always returns 'why'?

As a minister I deal with death quite often but this manner of death seems to be on the rise in epic proportions! In fact, this very morning I received a call from a friend telling me that a mutual friend had taken her life the other day. It just breaks my heart! The past few months and even years this seems to have become some type of morbid trend. One, my brothers and sisters, that needs to come to an end. If you are in this state of mind, think not only of yourself but of the many people affected by your thoughts and actions. Think of those that you are leaving behind! Think of the love that's left sitting on the table waiting on you to pick it up and embrace it! Grab it before it's too late. Let someone know how you are feeling. Open up and share your heart! I promise you someone cares. Today will always be today but today will always be much better with you in it! My heart hurts for the hopeless.Trying to make sense of what was going on in their lives. Asking myself what can be so bad in this life, especially a young life that would make a person feel that there is nor will be a better tomorrow? Our today is far shorter than our tomorrow but we have to believe!

My heart hurts even more for those left behind. The ones who are left trying to put the pieces of hope back together. I grieve and I mourn with my wife but I do not fully know or understand her pain. The loss of a baby, her baby! He was a young adult but he will always be her baby. During situations like these people always want to blame themselves. They feel guilty as if they could have done or said more. But no matter what's done or said the free will that we have been given will always overcome in the end. All that we can do is to try to live the best life of hope and faith that we personally can and try to encourage others in the same manner.

I thank you all for the prayers because I can honestly say that they have truly helped. Yesterday was chaotic and today there is deep sorrow but a comfort of peace that I know that only God through faith has provided. We are not just dealing with the loss of a son, brother and friend as no one is prepared for that but we are also dealing the business of the situation, which we are not prepared for at all, as like most folks we are living check to check. I am reaching out to each of you as my friends asking that you please keep us in your thoughts and prayers and if you could open up your hearts and donate to help us make the necessary arrangements we would be greatly appreciative. We are doing the absolute best that we can considering the situation.

This being a holiday weekend I know that most are tied up in good times and making good memories. I hope that you all have a safe and blessed weekend and I ask that you please remember us, especially Lori, Mychala, and CJ. This next week God willing we have it is going to be a very rough one.

Sincerely,

Bro Ben
