Last Saturday night my 2 year old niece Dakota reached out to give dog a kiss and loves and was bit in the face.She was taken by ambulance to Dornbecker's children's hospital where she underwent a 4 hour emergency surgery. The dog had bitten through the roof of her mouth ,her jaw bone was lodged in her sinus's ,her lip was severed in 2 places the doctor's attempted to put the muscles in her lip back together but the nerves in her jaw had been severed and they were not able to repair it.She will have permanent nerve damage and will have difficulties in chewing her food on the left side of her face. Dakota has approxmentley 200 stitches on the inside of her mouth and on her face ,she now has a plate and screws in an attempt to repair her jaw.Dakota requires a special diet now , upcoming surgery's ,medication's ,creams and upcoming medical appointments.The family has fallen on hard times Dakota's dad was laid off work a few weeks ago and is activley seeking employement her mom has always been a stay at home mom and now has to be home to care for Dakota with neither parent employed they have also lost there home .Dakota needs a bedroom and a place thier family can call home.I am reaching out to the community for help as this could have happened to anyone's family.
