A Gift For Life!

I NEED A KIDNEY!

My husband, Jim Brubacher, and I found out a little over a year ago that he was in end-stage renal failure. The fatigue and nausea meant he was unable to work. Then, in February, he began dialysis three days a week.

He is currently a perfect candidate for transplant. There are two very generous souls who have just recently started the process through the University of Michigan.  Our deepest thanks to Aubrey Huyck and Sarah Ferguson, our current donors in process.

We are asking for partners to come alongside and join us in this journey. We are hoping for some assistance to cover deductibles and co-pays, lodging, travel, food and gas. We are also covering these same expenses for the donors.  They are offering a tremendous gift.

Trying to plan ahead. After the transplant, we will have weekly trips to the University of Michigan for the first four weeks with visits becoming less frequent as Jim adjusts to the medication. We have been informed there will be some additional medical costs, including our share of the anti rejection medication that is quite expensive.  As you can image, dependable transportation is essential. and we need to make our car safe to drive from Petoskey to Ann Arbor. It's in need of brakes and repairs related to a wheel bearing.

We want to reach out and thank the transplant team at the University of Michigan:  Ravi Parasuraman, nephrologist, Heather Gillespie, specialty pharmacist, Michelle Donbrosky, RN, Crystal Johnson, PA, Laura Dunn, Social Worker.

We also want to thank the care and commitment of the DaVita Dialysis staff at the Demmer building in Petoskey. We have had four generous people step forward without hesitation to give the gift of life, but they did not pass the testing to qualify as donors; Cooper Brubacher, Lee Loubert, Sarahjane Velick, and one gentleman who prefers to remain anonymous.

In the beginning, we were overwhelmed.  It was difficult, but we knew we needed to take this news head on and continue to press forward which gives us fresh hope every day.  Thank you to all who have taken the time to read our story.  To those unable to help financially, we ask for your prayers and that you kindly share this link.
