Ollie path to recovery

Hi Everyone ❤️

On the 30th June I was out for a walk with our world ,our baby, Ollie, when our worst possible nightmare happened in front of my eyes . I never imagined initially I would ever post what happened or even think of doing a fundraiser . Until yesterday when Ollies vet bill hit €5400 ,the end goal for full recovery with 2-3 more appointments,X-rays to see if surgery was a success and potentially hydrotherapy we were told to prepare for something in the region of €7,000 or more . It’s been one of the worst weeks of our life and being there withnessing everything will haunt me for life . Any help or support would be greatly and kindly appreciated ❤️❤️

My best friend and my very own child and my shadow in life Ollie was involved in a collision with a jeep a week ago today . The jeep was driving at a crazy speed and struck Ollie twice ..At first it looked like he stopped but actually just stopped at traffic lights ahead and then drove off while I was in the middle of the road dealing with the aftermath of what happened..Because of the impact of what happened when I went to pick up Ollie he latched onto my hand out of distress of what happened and because of the excruciating pain he was in .We dashed to emergency vet hospital with him where they advised us the next 24 hours would be touch and go with how he was presenting and his injuries ,combined with the impact of what happened.Thankfully with great care and his fight for life and high strength painkillers he got through that first night ..

He has been on the likes of methodone and ketamine..Over the period he was there we were told about the extinct of the damage . Fractured pelvis ,Tail fractured ,Tail vertebrae damage and that amputation would have to happen with the tail ,Permanent or temporary nerve issues ,
Poor nerve functioning ,Could be incontent with wee and doing a number 2. Skin and muscle tissue damage ,a large wound that they were unsure how to proceed with . All during that week as well his heart rate was very erratic.

We were advised then that we would have to move him to the veterinary specialist hospital in Little Island in Cork as where he was in Sunbeam Blackpool they could not cater for all injuries and that the required surgery he would need could only be done at the Veterinary specialist clinic ..On Friday Ollie had surgery in which his tail was amputated and a screw was inserted in parts of his body as his body had moved in proportion from the accident and needed to be brought back into line and place with the support of a screw inserted during surgery .

There was initial fear that we may loose his left leg this was a huge concern and something that was looking very likely last week Monday -Wednesday.On Thursday an examination and test was done on the leg to see where we were at .The vet tested and applied pressure to the leg in 4 ways and Ollie responded to 2 parts of it ..This gave us hope that there was hope for his leg and would not require surgery in regards to amputation, only just to deal with the fracture .

Thankfully the nerve damage is not as was originally feared and Ollie can now go to the toilet ,which was not the case for the first 2 days after the nightmare ordeal he has been a victim of .

So far veterinary bills are over €5,000 ,see enclosed statements .

This does not include a crate and other items that have had to be purchased.

He has further appointments in 2 weeks
In 6 weeks he has to have multiple xrays to see where the body is at after everything he went through and to see if surgery ,treatment and aftercare has been a success.

After that then it’s been advised he would do hydrotherapy to fully assist him in his recovery .

I am hoping to see can I get a fundraiser going or if anyone would like to kindly donate to the existing costs that have been racked up from this whole horrific nightmare.

Any help or support would be greatly and kindly appreciated ❤️❤️
