At the end of July, I started noticing pain in my lower back. The pain got progressively worse through the month of August. It became so unbearable I started missing work. I went to the chiropractor a couple of times, to try to relieve the daily pain, but that was unsuccessful.
On Labor Day, the pain was excruciating at this point. I went to the ER to see if they could help me. The pain was now radiating from my back through my hip down my thigh to my left knee cap. After the ER CT and MRI imaging was done, it revealed a tumor on my L3 vertebrae that is pressing into my spinal cord. This was an indication that my cancer had returned.
In 2019 I fought Hodgkin's lymphoma and won. Unfortunately, it seems that I must fight again.
The first step of my treatment is radiation therapy. This is needed in order to shrink the size of the tumor on my L3 vertebrae. The shrinking of this tumor will relieve the pain spanning through my nerves down my left side.
The next step in the process will be a biopsy, after that my chemotherapy will start. The doctors told me that my chemotherapy treatment will be a little more aggressive than last time. I will be receiving in-patient hospital chemotherapy 3 days in a row followed by a 3-week break before the next three-day treatment. I'm not sure how long this process will be. The last time my chemotherapy lasted 6 months.
An additional step this time around will be a Stem Cell Bone Marrow Transplant that will take place at Lee Moffitt Cancer Center here in Tampa Florida.
I'm very hopeful that I can beat cancer a second time. This new diagnosis was a surprise. I had just started the third year of my electrician apprenticeship and was looking forward to learning new things about my trade. Unfortunately because of the long process ahead of me, I had to drop out until next year in order to focus on healing my body. In this life, few things can prosper without good health.
These funds will help cover my medical bills and loss of income currently and in the near future. My wife and I thank you in advance for supporting us in this time of need.
