## A Mother's Plea for Help
Hello, my name is Lama Shurrab, and I am the daughter-in-law of Abeer. I created this campaign to support my in-laws who have endured unimaginable hardship in Gaza.
Please allow me to share a message from my mother-in-law, Abeer:
I am a mother of seven. Three of my children are married, and four—Alaa, Mahmoud, Mohammed, and Twoleen—still depended on me. To you, they may be just names. But to me, they were my life’s work. I poured everything I had into raising them—teaching them to be kind, educated, thoughtful members of our community.
We never imagined that war would come and steal their dreams away. All of my children lost their jobs. The life we built was shattered in days.
We ended up in a small tent, barely five meters wide, with eight of us crammed inside. My husband, Ahmed, suffers from heart disease and chronic back pain. He needed a proper bed and a quiet space to rest—but war doesn’t care who is sick or in pain.
Every night, my 10-year-old daughter told me she couldn’t sleep. Not from nightmares—but from the sound of shelling, and the flies that filled the air inside the tent. I had no words to comfort her, so I told her the flies were here because of the heat.
We lost everything—food, comfort, safety, and even hope.
And so, I asked for help. From people like you. People who still believe in kindness, in humanity, in giving a mother the strength to hold her family together.
Your donations, your shares, your words—they helped us survive. You gave us a breath when we were drowning.
Thank you for being that light in our darkest hour.
How You Can Still Help
Give whatever you can—every dollar brings relief.
Share this story with your loved ones.
Be our voice when we cannot be heard.
Together, you’ve already made a difference. And with your continued support, we can begin to rebuild piece by fragile piece.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
