Hi from The Spokes, the premier all-female a cappella group at UC Davis!
Every spring, we look forward to sharing our showcase, HellaCappella, with friends, family, and other community members. Since October, we've worked together for countless hours every week to bring our audience a fantastic set that we are incredibly proud of! From members taking the time to arrange wonderful pieces and our choreographer and music director helping us to perfect our performance, to every Spoke rehearsing tirelessly to sound and look great, we gave our all and were really excited to share what we've been working on with all of you.
Unfortunately, due to the horrific COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to put on the show we've been working towards all year. The decision was necessary to keep our community safe, but we are heartbroken that we can’t be with you all to perform our new arrangements.
We weren’t satisfied with not being able to bring our audience some music, especially when we need it most, so The Spokes present to you… Virtual HellaCappella! We are working with our fantastic producer to record our HellaCappella 2020 set with the best quality we possibly can, in hopes to share our music with you in video form. Unfortunately, this process is very costly, and without HellaCappella, we need your help in making our recording possible!
We hope to release our virtual set on YouTube and all other social media in May, and your donation will make it possible. In order to meet our goal, we hope to receive your contributions and begin recording by the end of April. Your support will help us continue to grow as a group and celebrate what would have been our 16th annual showcase - a product of almost two decades of Spokes doing what we love most: performing with the people we love, for the people we love! Your donations will allow us to do that this year, and give our graduating seniors one last chance to sing with the group they’ve put so much work into over their college careers.
To make your contribution even more worthwhile, for any donation of $50 or more, we will send a video of one of us singing a song of your choice! If you would prefer not to receive a video, let us know.
