My longtime friend is facing a desperate situation.  After a very long battle over the years, her best friend and fiancé of 13 years, Freddie Dilsner, passed away on June 23rd. He was only 46 years old.  Freddie had congestive heart failure and had to have a heart transplant 8 years ago. He struggled with it continuously, and spent countless hours in the trauma unit over the last several years.  While we are all thankful that Freddie is finally at peace, he left behind his fiancé and their 13 year old daughter.  Because they never married, to keep her from inheriting his mounting hospital debt, Stacie and McKenna will not receive any Social Security benefits.  The day he passed they stopped all assistance.  Their family has no way of paying their rent, utilities or even buying food.  To compound this tragedy, their van is on its last legs. It seems when it rains, it pours. They say God won’t give you more than you can handle and I believe that. However, I don’t see any end in sight for this family. Her friends will of course do everything we can, and she is seeking some public assistance as well, but none of us can afford an additional household. 

Before Freddie got sick, Stacie worked as a daycare teacher.  Once his battle began, she could no longer work outside the home, because she became Freddie’s fulltime caregiver.  Stacie has never complained and is grateful for the time she and McKenna had with Freddie. For this reason, I am asking for help for her family to get them through this next month so they can grieve and also give her time to find a job so they don’t lose their home.  I believe they have lost enough.
