FUNDS FOR JULI DEHART SMITH

Three years ago my sister was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. Juli and I have always been best friends. Our mother died when we were young and for many years we survived by being each other’s everything.  When we were faced with this recent crisis, we settled into our new roles quickly: Juli as the fighter, me as the support. 


Juli has fought hard and courageously for many months, and our family and friends have been wonderfully helpful.  But with Juli being incapacitated physically and unable to work for the last three years, we never fully anticipated all the uncovered medical and home health care costs, the travel expenses, the price of college for Juli's daughter Hana, the daily household expenses and the countless other precious pennies that we would need. We focused on the time we had, the fight we faced and the small, encouraging victories that came while trying to beat what feels unbeatable.

Cancer comes without warning. It’s not something you save up for.  And we have discovered that its costs far exceed what you could ever sit down and imagine.  Although both of us have made that pinky promise only two sisters can make, we have reached a point where we could really use your help.  If you’re unable to help financially, we understand, so please continue your thoughts and prayers for us.
