Hi my names Sarah and I’m fundraising for Private intravenous hydration. Currently the nutrition I receive is through my nasal feeding tube. But at the moment I am not tolerating much liquid, so I only get 350-400 calories and 150ml of water a day.
I suffer from gastroparesis and may thurners syndrome which means I cannot eat or drink since my intestines function at a
much lower rate than what is needed. My iliac and renal vein have been found to be narrowed due to pelvic congestion - which is worsening my symptoms for gastropatesis. Nevertheless the uk are not planning to carry out the sugery, therefore I would need to go abroad when I am fit for surgery and have the financial means.
But at this moment, I am underweight, and my care team are not willing to address and manage the current diffulties I am facing. They know they have to change my feeding tube as it is not working but they are not coming to a decision and therefore have left me to carry on struggling on a daily basis.
Since November I have been chronically dehydrated and the NHS are not providing me with support despite them being aware that I have developed cysts in my kidneys as well as had kidney infections. My blood volume is consistently low and I've had episodes of fluctuating heart rate (tachycardia and arrythmia) and low oxygen levels, all because I am so dehydrated.
I would appreciate your support to help me get my daily fluid requirement. I am raising for 15 intravenous fluid bags, which would hydrate me for three weeks approximately. I am hoping that the NHS have decided on their next steps within the next month.
Nevertheless they do not have plans to offer me the best treatment that is available, for instance a gastric pacemaker is one of the methods to treat my condition but the nhs have not provided it despite the fact that I have been suffering with my condition for over five years. Privately a gastric pacemaker costs 23,000; therefore although I am currently raising for fluids as a short term solution- trying to get to a more longer term solution is what will ultimately provide the potential for me to have my life back.
